Map of Concord 1845 by John Roman
Exquisitely Detailed Map of Thoreau's Concord, by John Roman
Our Price: 20.00

An Illustrated Map of Thoreau's Concord - July 4, 1845

Exquisitely detailed map depicting July 4, 1845, the day Thoreau moved into his Walden cabin. The chimney on the cabin is not drawn into the picture because Thoreau didn't add the chimney until the fall after he had taken up residence. Expertly designed, award winning work, funded in part by the Thoreau Society.

Illustrated in the style of a 19th C. "Bird's Eye" map, this excellent illustration of Concord as viewed from Fair Haven Hill gives an accurate portrayal of the town as it would have appeared the day Henry moved to Walden Pond. Included with the poster is a detailed historical fact sheet calling out some of the details. Illustrator John Roman has produced this map through research funded in part by a Thoreau Society Fellowship (2003) and with input from many experts.
