Beware of all enterprises that require new clothes.
Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.
In Wildness is the preservation of the world.
Surely joy is the condition of life.
Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in.

A Thoreau Profile - Milton Meltzer, Walter Harding
List Price: $16.00
You save $8.00!
"Drawn largely in his own words with 250 pictures." Includes not only every known portrait of Thoreau made from life, but a full array of daguerrotypes, photographs, paintings, drawings, cartoons, broadsides, news clippings, maps, and charts of his Concord contemporaries, his friends, and their times. Although there were many biographies of Thoreau at the time, this was the first book to portray his life graphically. The text is derived for the most part from Thoreau's own autobiographical writings, supplemented on occasion by the writings of his friends and contemporaries.
