Beware of all enterprises that require new clothes.
Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.
In Wildness is the preservation of the world.
Surely joy is the condition of life.
Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in.

Walking - Henry David Thoreau
One of our favorite essays from Henry Thoreau, packaged nicely in a succinct paperback. First published in 1862, the essay includes such famous quotations as: "In wildness is the preservation of the world." And: "So we saunter toward the Holy Land; till one day the sun shall shine more brightly than ever he has done, shall perchance shine into our minds and hearts, and light up our whole lives with a great awakening light, so warm and serene and golden as on a bank-side in Autumn." The essay "Walking"
is also available in a book that pairs it with Emerson's essay "Nature."
Applewood Books, 1992. 60 pp. Paperback.
