A fictional WANTED poster created by Thoreau Society co-founder and scholar Walter Harding. Text begins: WANTED by U.S. Marshalls: Henry David Thoreau, AKA: "David Henry Thoreau," "Henry D. Thoreau," "H.D. Thoreau," "HDT." CAUTION! Suspect is known to be frequently armed with an umbrella or heavy walking stick and a book of botany. Suspect's name is pronounced "thorough" amd rhymes with "furrow."
It continues with a physical description and a list of suspicious behaviors. Reproduced here on buff-colored parchment-like paper, with permission from The Thoreau Society collections at The Thoreau Institute. Suitable for framing and hanging in office or classroom.
